Good Beans, Good Choices
We source our beans from smallholder farms around the globe, supporting sustainable practices and the communities that grow our coffee. We choose to work with importers that have strong relationships with producers and contribute to sustainable and community projects in origin countries. By partnering with these importers, we ensure that our beans are not only delicious but also ethically sourced.
When it comes to selecting beans, we focus on one simple criterion: what tastes good. As micro-roasters, we roast in small batches, allowing us to highlight flavors that are surprising and give each bean the care it deserves.
It’s our goal to visit as many producers as we can as we grow and develop, building connections and understanding the stories behind each cup.
Everyday Sustainability
Our story in Hackney Wick wouldn’t be complete without an everyday commitment to sustainability, woven into every step of our process. We use plant-based, commercially compostable cups from Decent Packaging, with a dedicated bin to ensure these end up in the right place. First Mile helps us ensure nothing goes to landfill, while our coffee packaging from Dutch Pack is carbon negative, supporting carbon reduction projects in coffee-producing regions.
We take pride in repurposing our coffee waste: used coffee grounds and bags head to the local primary school for gardening projects, and the chaff left from roasting supports composting efforts at a nearby garden centre.
We source our produce as ethically as possible, using milk from the happy cows at Northiam Farm, which is located less than 2-hours from our roastery. And pastries which are freshly baked from local bakery Galeta.
For us, sustainability isn’t a box to tick; it’s an ongoing journey that evolves every day. There’s always a little more to be done, and we’re here for it.
