Coffee cherries for this lot are dry-fermented in tanks for 100 hours before being pulped and undergoing a further 40-hour submerged fermentation in cold mountain spring water. Grown on the fertile slopes of Mt Elgon, this long ferment process unlocks a vivid cranberry brightness, underpinned by malty sweetness and a red-wine finish. The Coffee Gardens began in 2017 when Dana, Michael and Shak saw the lack of Ugandan specialty coffee reaching the international market and set out to change that. By working directly with farmers, offering training, access to fair loans, and paying above-market prices, they’ve built a model that champions quality, conservation and smallholder livelihoods — and the results are right here in your cup.

The name Buzzline comes from a different kind of connection. In 2005, Hackney’s Kingsmead Primary twinned with a school in Uganda as part of a global project to protect bees and pollinators. The kids made insect masks to send out to Kampala, and received handmade gifts back, woven from banana fibres. It was a cultural exchange that sparked curiosity about the natural world, and built a direct line buzzing between Hackney and Uganda. This coffee keeps that line alive.
